192watt explores the phenomena of converting a multichannel sound piece into the visible spectrum of light. Similar to a conventional speaker system, the signal is physically present in the room but in this case it’s not perceptible with our ears. Wearing headphones equipped with light sensitive modules, people are invited to move through space and become part of the installation by choosing a standpoint, interfere with the light and mix the signal in a personal way. The experiment results in a collective listening experience which is shaped through and by individuals. 192watt offers a unique way to analyze subjective experiences and decisions in an objective environment.
